When you walk in your living room, do you immediately feel bored with the way the entire room looks? You may feel like it lacks personality and vibrancy. If you would like to make the atmosphere in your living room more welcoming and exciting, there are plenty of easy yet effective changes that would make such a big difference.

1. Change the Blinds

You may currently have white blinds on your windows. If they have not been changed in many months or even years, they may be slightly discolored and extremely dusty. It might not seem like a huge deal, but new blinds can easily make the living room look more inviting. Instead of choosing a shade of white, you may even want to look at some of the other color options. There are blinds available in shades of brown and black, too.

If you would normally stick with plastic blinds, consider getting wood blinds. The wood blinds can easily add an elegant touch to the home. Although they may initially cost you a bit more money than the plastic versions, they tend to last far longer because the quality is so great.

2. Rearrange Your Furniture

You may not want to purchase brand new furniture, especially if the items you own are still in good condition. However, you can still change the look of your living room by rearranging the furniture and creating a bit more of an open space. Do not be afraid to put some furniture on an angle to create a new look in the living room.

Consider moving the largest pieces of furniture around first. Once you find a new spot for the couch or loveseat, you may then want to focus on moving the tables and other items in spots that coordinate well with the couches. If you feel like things are a bit too cluttered, do not hesitate to remove a piece of furniture from the living room and put it in another room.

3. Add Art to the Walls

The walls of your living room may look plain if you do not have anything hanging on them. One way to make the room look even more interesting is to add beautiful pieces of art to the wall. You can purchase art or create your own using all kinds of art supplies. For example, you can make a heart out of painted tree branches or create your own sign with a quote on it using old wooden pallets and different types of paint. No matter what you decide to put on the walls, the things you choose to use to decorate can easily make a room look even better.

If you want to add more personality to your living room, change the blinds, rearrange the furniture and start adding more art to the walls. You'll probably be surprised at how different the room will look when you are finished making these changes.
